A good part of the barrier is related to the need for privacy and private space, as space may often be available otherwise. Once you decide to take the first step to change the norms, the rest will follow easier.

How can I overcome the barrier?

  • Uncomfortable exercising around others

    • Avoid the crowd, start exercise in bathroom, room or places where there are no people.

    • Focus on the benefits, remember that if you become comfortable exercising in public your self-confidence will improve.

    • Remind yourself that physical activity is helping you improve your cardiovascular health, and also focus that you will feel after a workout.

    • Motivate other people to move with you by emphasizing on the health benefits it will have in the future.
